Azekah is a placeĀ  for lovers of biblical history, archeology and beauty. Set at the nexus of the coastal plain and the hill country, it was a part of the borderlands between the Judeans, who resided in the hills to the east, and the Philistines, who dominated the coast. Along these borderlands the Judeans built a series of fortresses, including here, at Lachsh, Guvrin and Shaarayim, all within a few minutes of each other by vehicle.
