In this tour travelers will come away with a deeper understanding of religious beliefs that drive events in the Middle East as we absorb the sites in Israel’s north country.
Take a private tour to discover off-the-beaten-path Safed, a hilltop town with magical lanes filled with unique artwork and architecturally significant synagogues where Jewish mysticism developed and flourished in a vibrant spiritual community in the 16th century.
Continue to the eastern edge of Israel, high up on the Golan Heights at Mount Bental, with views over the Syrian heartland. Here you’ll gain a better understanding of up-to-the-minute Mid-Eastern politics and their repercussions. Before descending we’ll take a break and contemplate the views and dilemmas we’ve discovered in the creatively named Kofi Annan cafe.
Refreshed, we’ll cross the Golan Heights to the southwest and take in a remarkable vista of the Sea of Galilee, Tiberias and the Galilee from the Peace Overlook at Kibbutz Kfar Haruv.
Upon exiting the Peace Overlook prepare for excitement exiting the Golan Heights on a serpentine road which gives excellent views of Israel’s easterly neighbor, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The border runs below us in the Yarmuk river. Upon leaving the Golan we’ll travel just a few minutes to the Jordan River where we’ll visit a baptismal site where some scholars believe Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.
